Official vehicle hits school bus, IPS officer suffers minor injuries

The vehicle was travelling behind a school bus which braked suddenly and as a result, vehicle rammed into bus.

A senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer’s official vehicle was involved in an accident with a school bus at Marine Drive on Monday afternoon. The state police officer suffered minor injuries and the Marine Drive police have registered a report of the incident.

According to sources, Additional Director General of Police (Administration) Prabhat Ranjan was on his way to his Colaba office when the incident occurred near the Intercontinental Hotel at Marine Drive on Monday afternoon.

Marine Drive police officers said that Ranjan’s vehicle was travelling behind a school bus which braked suddenly and as a result, the vehicle rammed into the bus from behind.

Confirming the incident, Ranjan said that he had been visiting several police grounds in the city as part of the Maharashtra Police’s preparations for the upcoming Maharashtra State Police Games, a state-level sports event for policemen, and was on his way to his office in the state police headquarters in Colaba at the time. “It would be difficult for me to state exactly what happened but my vehicle rammed into a bus that was travelling in front of it. I sustained minor injuries due to the jolt,” said Ranjan.

The information was conveyed to the Marine Drive police, in whose jurisdiction the incident occurred. A team of officers reached the spot to conduct inquiries, and after confirming that no one was seriously injured, an incident report was filed at the Marine Drive police station.
