The Mumbai Building Repairs and Reconstruction Board (MBRRB) Tuesday waived the No Objection Certificate (NOC) fee of Rs 70,500 for beneficiaries of “Master List” houses allotted to residents of cess buildings, declared unfit for habitation, who are now living in transit camps.
The fee waiver was announced by Maharashtra’s Housing Minister Atul Save during an event in which offer letters were issued to 158 eligible applicants.
The eligible applicants were selected in a computerised lottery conducted in December last year.
Minister Save praised Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for their decision to conduct the allocation of “Master List” houses exclusively through a computerised lottery. This was done in the wake of allegations of irregularities in house allocations.
“This reform marks a new chapter in the allocation process, aiming to reduce complaints and increase satisfaction among long-time tenants of transit camps who are now receiving permanent homes in Mumbai,” said Minister Save.
According to MBRRB, an undertaking of Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA), out of the 265 initial applicants, 212 were confirmed as eligible. Offer letters have been issued to 158 of these verified individuals, who have already submitted their acceptance letters.
Document verification for the remaining 53 applicants is ongoing, and 54 others have been urged to submit their acceptance letters promptly.
In addition, MBRRB is preparing to conduct another computerised lottery for 2,000 additional flats in prime city locations.
“Our goal is to provide housing for all through initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban),” said Save.
