No rise in mercury over past fortnight,says Met

The Met department has attributed the moderate maximum temperatures to the high moisture content in the air. “In May,the seasonal wind over the coastal regions of the state is westerly. This wind blows from sea to land and thus brings moisture with it,which controls maximum temperatures. Since the beginning of May,the relative humidity has not been less than 60 per cent,sometimes going up to 85 per cent. Hence,the maximum temperatures in the city have not risen in this period,” said Bishwombhar Singh,director,India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Weathermen do not expect any changes in the temperatures over the next two days with maximum temperatures likely to be around 33°C while minimum temperatures will likely be around 25°C.
