A sessions court Wednesday rejected an anticipatory bail application moved by dismissed senior police inspector Arun Borude, observing that prima facie a case has been made out against him.

Arun Borude, charged in the rape of a teenager, has been giving the police the slip for nearly two weeks; the order clears the decks for his arrest once the police find him.

Borude has been absconding since the case was registered. On November 18,he approached the court for anticipatory bail in connection with the rape and trespassing case registered, respectively,by the Powai and MIDC police stations.

Police say a 15-year-old girl was raped by four men including Borude on several occasions between February and April this year in a flat in Emerald Court Building in Powai. The girl recently delivered a daughter in October at a suburban hospital.

The Powai police’s case of rape names Borude and three others. The MIDC police booked them for housebreaking and trespassing because the flat in which the alleged rape took place was sealed and under the possession of a court receiver.

The court today granted Borude relief in the housebreak case but observed the other charges were of serious nature and could not be overlooked. Additional sessions judge R G Awachat observed Borude’s custody is required for investigation into the rape case.
