The popular mini toy train service at Matheran will resume operations from November 4 onwards. Barring the stretch from Aman Lodge to Matheran station, the train service stays closed during the monsoon season. Now, the entire route from Neral railway station to Matheran has been opened for tourists. According to the Central Railways, the train service from Neral to Matheran will be made available daily at 8.50 am and 10:25am. In the up direction from Matheran to Neral, the train will ply at 2.45pm and 4pm. The mini toy train has total six coaches--three second class, one Vistadome coach and two second class-cum-luggage vans. Six shuttle services in both up and down direction will be operated between Aman Lodge and Matheran daily. All shuttle services will run with three second class, one first class coach and two second-class-cum luggage vans.
