In wake of the NEET paper leak and the cancellation of the UGC-NET, Anil Parab, Maha Vikas Aghadi candidate for the Mumbai Graduates seat of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, has called for a vigilance and leak detection unit to prevent question paper leaks in entrance and recruitment exams in the state.

“Whether it’s the NEET, UGC-NET, CET for PhD in Pune, revenue official job exam, or HSC exam, paper leaks are rampant in all government entrance and recruitment exams. Students and graduates prepare for years for these exams to secure either admissions or jobs. Such incidents not only destroy valuable years of their lives but also erode trust in these exams. This is a major concern,” said the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader.

Parab, a former minister, made the remarks during an interaction in Chembur on Sunday morning with graduate voters. He was accompanied by Mumbai Congress president and newly elected MP Varsha Gaikwad. “After the Lok Sabha elections, the MVA is united for the Graduates election. All the Congress workers at the grassroots are working very hard. I’m sure of Parab’s victory by a record margin,” said Gaikwad.

Parab said the lives of lakhs of students and graduates were at stake. “This dedicated unit should be headed by a senior IPS officer. I will take up this issue at all forums to provide relief to students and graduates,” he added.

Parab has been holding multiple meetings with Sena (UBT) office-bearers and voters for the Mumbai Graduate constituency election. On Saturday, Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray and former Mumbai University vice-chancellor Dr Bhalchandra Mungekar launched Parab’s manifesto for the graduate voters.
