According to the police, Dubey was under the influence of drugs when he came back home on April 13. He started arguing with his mother Bindu Dubey after she refused to give him money. The argument took an ugly turn when Shivkumar allegedly assaulted her. Bindu then attacked her son with a knife, police sources said.

The commotion alerted their neighbours and the injured Shivkumar was rushed to a trauma care hospital in Jogeshwari, where he was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.

“Since it was past sunset, we did not arrest Dubey then but served her a notice to remain present before the police the next day. On Sunday she was placed under arrest under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code,” said a police officer.
