With not a single response to the tender by the end of March, the SRA had to re-invite bids, setting August 23 as the fresh date for final submission of bids.

DESPITE three extensions, tenders for a slum rehabilitation project in Vakola have drawn only a single bid. The Slum Rehabilitation Authority’s legal department will now take a call on whether to award the contract, said sources.
In February this year, the SRA floated tenders for the redevelopment project of a slum dwellers’ society, named Om Namo Sujalam Sufalam Co-op Housing Society Ltd, occupying a plot measuring 21,882.15 square metres, near the Western Express Highway in Vakola. The project comprises rehabilitation of around 800 slum homes.
With not a single response to the tender by the end of March, the SRA had to re-invite bids, setting August 23 as the fresh date for final submission of bids. Eventually, the tender had to be floated a third time, this time with a final submission date of October 22.
When bids were opened earlier this week, the SRA found a single bidder. SRA’s Deputy Chief Engineer for western suburbs R B Mitkar told The Indian Express that as only one bidder has responded, the legal team will decide the further course.
