Amid an orange alert indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall sounded by India Meteorological Department IMD, Mumbai, Thane and Palghar are bracing for heavy showers on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) bulletin forecasted moderate rain in the city and suburbs with possibility of heavy rain at isolated places. Between 8 am on Monday and 8 am on Tuesday, the eastern suburbs recorded maximum rain at 63 mm, followed by 60 mm in the western suburbs and 34 mm in the island city. Furthermore, while the IMD’s Santacruz observatory recorded 91 mm of rainfall, the coastal Colaba observatory recorded 50 mm of rain.
