The intensity of downpour began to ease on Wednesday, helping the city gradually return to normal after days of relentless rain that had flooded streets, and disrupted both air and train services.
How Mumbai is getting back to daily grind: While minor train delays were reported, public transport services, including BEST buses and suburban trains on the Central and Western lines are operating without interruption, officials said on Friday. Vehicular traffic on roads and highways across Mumbai has also returned to normal. On Tuesday evening, 782 passengers were rescued after two overcrowded Monorail trains on elevated tracks got stuck between stations in Mumbai on a day of torrential rains.

Due to the heavy rains over last few days, water level in the seven lakes that supply water to Mumbai has reached 94.95 per cent— highest in three years as on Aug 22. Three lakes — Tulsi, Vehar and Modak Sagar have achieved 100% lake level.
