Mumbai’s water supply is expected to get normal from early next week with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) claiming to have completed the repair works of the water supply tunnel that was damaged last month.

As the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition in Maharashtra faces fresh possible trouble from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) end, the man at the heart of it is again Ajit Pawar – the nephew in the shadow of the big uncle.
On Tuesday, Ajit denied talk of him leaving the NCP, splitting the NCP, or parting ways with the MVA as “rumours”. However, given Sharad Pawar's deft realpolitik and nephew Ajit's own reputation of vacillation – with or without Pawar Senior's blessings – few believe this story is over.
Through his various brushes with controversy, what has kept Ajit going is the support he enjoys among NCP MLAs. In November 2010, for example, when the alleged Adarsh scam hit the Maharashtra government and the Congress-NCP decided to change the names at the top, the NCP sidelined senior leader Chhagan Bhujbal as Deputy CM to bring in Ajit after an overwhelming majority of NCP MLAs supported him – marking the first of his four tenures as Maharashtra Deputy CM.
The son of Sharad Pawar's elder brother Anantrao, Ajit first rose in politics like the rest of the family through the cooperative sector. He was a constant by his uncle's side starting 1991-92, and rose in prominence after Pawar broke away from the Congress to form the NCP. Read More
Even as Maharashtra political circles are abuzz with the next move of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar, all eyes will also be on a special court, where the case filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against a company allegedly linked to Pawar and his wife will come up for a regular hearing on Wednesday. The central agency on April 5 submitted a chargesheet in the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank (MSCB) case.
While Pawar’s role in the bank and in some of the companies that bought the sugar cooperatives which had taken loans from the bank was mentioned extensively in the chargesheet filed by the ED earlier this month, the leader has not been named an accused in the case so far. The ED has named Guru Commodity Services Pvt Ltd, its chartered accountant Yogesh Barecha and Jarandeshwar Sugar Mills Pvt Ltd as accused.
“… further investigation is going on to identify the real beneficiaries of the company Jarandeshwar Sugar Mills Pvt Ltd. The ownership and shareholding pattern of the company has changed a number of times in due course of time…The investigation into specific roles and activities of various other persons suspected to be involved in the offence of money laundering is likely to take more time,” the ED had said in its chargesheet, keeping the scope of its investigation open to adding more persons as accused. NCP MP Supriya Sule Tuesday dismissed ‘rumours’ of fellow NCP leader and cousin Ajit Pawar joining hands with the BJP.

Meanwhile, amid political uncertainty in Maharashtra and speculation that a majority of NCP MLAs are set to jump ship if Ajit Pawar chooses to align with the BJP once again, the MLAs also wish to know party chief Sharad Pawar’s stand to avoid a repeat of the legal and political troubles currently faced by the Shiv Sena.
An MLA from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), who is in Mumbai to meet Ajit Pawar, said that none of the legislators want a replication of the Eknath Shinde-Uddhav Thackeray row in their party. “Knowing Sharad Pawar ji, it is clear that he won’t let Ajit Pawar control the party so easily as has happened in Shiv Sena’s case. Once the perception battle begins, there is a chance of Sharad Pawar gaining sympathy in the manner in which Uddhav Thackeray did. It will be difficult for us to manage workers in our constituencies in that case,” the MLA said.
According to sources within the NCP, over the course of the last week, the senior Pawar held meetings with MLAs as well as other office bearers of the party to understand their opinions in case his nephew and the state’s Leader of Opposition Ajit chose to ally with the BJP. Read More

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray slammed the Eknath Shinde government over the deaths at the Maharashtra Bhushan award ceremony in Kharghar in Navi Mumbai a day earlier.

Uddhav Thackeray questioned the Modi government while addressing the MVA rally in Nagpur. Thackeray said," Rahul Gandhi was targeted for asking questions on Hindenburg. Kejariwal too is now targeted. Why? Shouldn't we ask questions? Forget Hindenburg, what about Satyapal Malik? Isn't he your own? What he has said is serious. Who will answer the questions he has raised?"

We are fighting for you. We will not stop until we win." This is the second rally of three parties out of total seven planned across Maharashtra.

Now, if Maharashtra CM was real devotee of Lord Ram , he would have first gone to Ayodhya and not Surat," said Uddhav Thackeray.
Former CM and senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan while addressing the Maha Vikas Aghadi(MVA) rally in Nagpur said that "Country's PM is facing serious allegations. Few days back Adani group faced allegations leading to loss of his wealth. It raised an important question as to how that industrialist amassed this much of wealth. People of this country are asking questions. Two days ago, BJP leader Satypal Malik levelled serious allegations about Pulwama attack. Who is responsible for the death of 40 martyrs? People are asking questions. There are questions on genuineness of PM's degrees as well." This is the second rally of three parties out of total seven planned across Maharashtra.
