The Byculla police have arrested Mohammed Saif Shaikh, 28, Azim Khan, 19 and Suraj Thakur, 19 for allegedly killing Fahim Nazir alias Fahim Machmach.
The three have been arrested on the basis of the information received from informers. According to the police, havaldar Harshal Deshmukh, who was earlier posted in Malwani, received information regarding Machmach, who was reported missing since April 15 by his family.
Deshmukh received information about three suspects who allegedly killed Machmach and then after putting his body in a gunny bag, disposed it off in an open nullah on Marve Road, Malad (West).
Deshmukh shared information with Byculla police senior inspector Chimaji Adhav, who too earlier worked in Malwani as the police station chief.
Adhav informed his seniors and then a police team went to Malwani and detained three suspects. During interrogation, they admitted that Saif killed Machmach as he allegedly molested Saif’s sister, states the FIR. Saif was helped by his two friends. Police have also retrieved a video from Thakur’s phone in which Saif and others were seen beating up Machmach, said Adhav.
