Mumbai man held for raping 6-year-old girl

The Mumbai police on Friday arrested a 36-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl in the eastern suburbs of the city. The police said the incident took place at around 8 pm on Thursday.

According to the police, the girl was playing outside her house on Thursday evening.

“The accused works as a chef in a kitchen at a shop nearby. He noticed her playing and asked her to come with him under the pretext of giving her a roti,” a police officer said.

The accused then took her inside his shop and allegedly sexually assaulted her, the officer added.
