"As the victim was not feeling well, the complainant and their mother rushed her to the hospital, where she was given medical treatment," said police. A 40-year-old man has been booked under Juvenile Justice Act for allegedly brutally assaulting his 15-year-old daughter late on Wednesday in Dahisar. The police said that the father warned his minor daughter against using a mobile phone but her continued use enraged the father, who assaulted her with a leather belt.
An officer said, “The man has two daughters, a 20-year-old and a 15-year-old, and also a son. On Wednesday evening, the 40-year-old man’s wife and their three children went to a birthday party of a hotelier.”
However, after they returned, the accused allegedly started scolding the 15-year-old girl.
His elder daughter, who is the complainant in the case, told police that at around 10.45 pm the father started shouting at her sister for going to a birthday party instead of studying for her ongoing examinations.
“We tried to explain it to them. At the same time, when the 15-year-old took her mobile phone to study online, the father told her not to use the phone. But she continued to do so by saying that she was studying. The father did not listen to her and started beating her with his hands. He went on to beat her on the legs with a leather belt,” read the statement of the 20-year-old woman.
When the 15-year-old girl’s mother intervened, she was also threatened by the man, said police.
“As the victim was not feeling well, the complainant and their mother rushed her to the hospital, where she was given medical treatment,” said police.
The Dahisar police were then informed about the incident after which early on Thursday, a case under sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 was registered.
An officer said, “The person named in the FIR is jobless and addicted to alcohol. We are still investigating the case.”
