21-year-old suffering from depression found dead in Kandivali
The police said the deceased, Prakash Jha, was unemployed and had been suffering from depression since losing his brother in a road accident nearly five years ago.

A 21-year-old youth allegedly died by suicide at his home in Kandivali on Saturday. The police said the deceased, Prakash Jha, was unemployed and had been suffering from depression since losing his brother in a road accident nearly five years ago. The incident took place when his parents were not at home.
An officer said, “Jha’s mother is also suffering from mental illness and his father, who is an autorickshaw driver, is often busy with her treatment.”
Likewise, on Saturday they had gone out of town for her treatment when the 21-year-old took his life.
“We have learnt that he has been under depression since his brother died in a road accident,” said an officer adding, “It is suspected that he has ended his life due to depression.”
The officer further said the deceased stayed with his parents at Poisar locality in Kandivali.
The parents initially asked their neighbours to check on Jha as he was not answering their calls. “When a neighbour went to their house, he found Jha’s body following which his parents were informed,” said an officer.
Jha was rushed to a nearby government hospital where he was declared dead before admission. The Samta Nagar police said an accidental death report has been filed. “We are probing whether there is any foul play,” an officer said.
