Squeezed Budget

With Ajit Pawar as Finance Minister at the helm of the state’s purse strings, the six MLAs from Sharad Pawar group have received absolutely no funds since the split in the party. While many NCP MLAs who have chosen to hedge their bets with Sharad Pawar camp are being squeezed in budget allocation, one MLA who claims to be the supporter of Sharad Pawar and is being praised by his camp frequently has received highest amount of fund in last three months. It is being whispered that the said MLA has made up his mind to jump ship and will announce his move after the proposed cabinet expansion announcement.

Banner Politics

Breakaway factions of Sena and NCP are indulging in banner politics with a new ‘edge’. While CM Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena’s Ramdas Kadam has displayed photographs of BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis on the banners, NCP’s Ajit Pawar group replaced Sharad Pawar with his political guru Yashvantrao Chavan on their banners as Sharad Pawar had barred the Ajit Pawar faction from using his photographs. Kadam and his son have been at odds with local Shiv Sena workers for months now and putting Fadnavis’s pictures on the banners has raised eyebrows among many in Shiv Sena. The move has sparked speculations that Kadam wants to join BJP ahead of Lok Sabha elections since he wants to contest Lok Sabha polls.

Wooing Voters

A seniot Congress leader and former MP from Mumbai recently held a meeting with Ajit Pawar and is planning to switch sides. In a bid to win Muslim votes, who are unlikely to vote for them, the NDA is planning to give one seat in Mumbai with considerable Muslim population to Ajit Pawar group and the leader who has a long history in Congress is now considering that option.
