A DAY ahead of the commencement of the monsoon session of the state legislature Wednesday, the ruling Mahayuti alliance accused the Opposition parties of “peddling fake narratives” while the Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders boycotted the customary tea party hosted by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde protesting against the government’s “anti-farmer” policies and the law and order situation in the state.

Claiming that the BJP-Sena-NCP alliance would expose the opposition’s “lies and fake narratives” in the session, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis blamed the opposition for stalling several schemes during the MVA-led government.

“I think that the opposition alliance has gone into the mindset of lying only because they have got some votes in the election…,” Fadnavis said while addressing a press conference along with Deputy CM Ajit Pawar.

Fadnavis further alleged that during the MVA government, projects and schemes in Vidarbha and Marathwada were either slowed down or stopped.

“During the MVA government, the files of several projects did not even move. When we came into power we pushed these projects and they are now progressing rapidly,” he claimed.

CM Shinde alleged that the Opposition created a fake narrative that the NDA government will change the Constitution and remove reservations due to which they garnered more votes in the state in the recently held Lok Sabha polls.

Meanwhile,  the opposition leaders during a press conference Wednesday raked up the issue of “pride of Maharashtra” which they alleged was stomped by the ruling alliance by breaking two parties.

“The betrayal of Maharashtra by the state government will not go unnoticed. This government is formed by breaking parties and its aim is to collect money. It is the government meant for contractors who survive on tenders and work after commissions,” said Leader of Opposition in state legislative assembly Vijay Wadettiwar addressing the press conference.

Earlier, the opposition unanimously decided to boycott the customary meeting convened by the Chief Minister on the eve of the monsoon session, to protest against the state government’s “anti-farmer” policies, not providing them financial assistance; its “failure” to curb deteriorating law and order situation and shifting of industries to BJP-ruled states.

“This is the last legislative session before the Assembly polls and the government will throw a slew of populist announcements on us. But the people of this state will not fall for the jumlas of this government,” Wadettiwar said.

The opposition also demanded a crop loan waiver on the lines of Telangana government.

“The state government must immediately announce a crop loan waiver on the lines of Telangana government to help the farmers who are in distress due to damage caused to their crops because of natural calamities and fall in the prices of soybean, cotton and other agriculture produce,” he added.

Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Ambadas Danve said that the opposition would also be demanding a law to curb paper leaks with a provision of strict punishment to the culprits involved in it.

Danve accused the Mahayuti government of pitting various communities against each other on the reservation issue.

He was referring to the ongoing protests by pro-Maratha and pro-OBC reservation activists across the state and also the fresh demand by the Dhangar community to provide quota from the Scheduled Tribes.
