A special court on Tuesday allowed an application filed by Nagpur-based lawyers Satish and Pradip Uke to attend the post-death rites of their father in Nagpur from November 21-26. The court rejected their plea for temporary bail. The two were arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in March 2022 on allegations that they had indulged in money-laundering of proceeds obtained from usurping two properties of 6.5 acres in Nagpur. They recently moved court stating that their father passed away on November 10 and sought temporary bail to attend the post-death rites. The court directed that they be provided police escorts at the cost of the government to accompany them to Nagpur from November 21-26. It said that they cannot visit any place except the places in Nagpur where the rites are to be conducted. They have been directed to not use any electronic gadgets like phones, laptops. It has also directed the Enforcement Directorate to depute staff to keep vigilance.
