The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Wednesday issued a forecast for light to moderate rain coupled with thunderstorms and lightning between Thursday (May 4) and Sunday (May 7) in Mumbai as well as remaining parts of Maharashtra.
The IMD has issued an yellow alert for the entire state on Thursday and yellow alert for all the major districts in the state other than Palghar, Akola, Nanded, Gadchiroli and Nagpur on Friday.
“The rains will occur due to an interaction of dry and wet winds since there is a possibility of easterlies that could blow above Mumbai in the next one or two days. The rain may start lashing from early Thursday morning due to moisture incursion in the air,” said Sushma Nair, scientist from IMD Mumbai.
The IMD, however, said that by Sunday, the possibility of rains may reduce in most of the states with only Amravati, Gadchiroli, Yavatmal, Chandrapur and Wardha having the possibility of experiencing light and moderate rains.
