MNS workers ransack Amazon office after Pakistani flag appears for sale on e-commerce platform

The incident took place on Tuesday around 12.30 pm when MNS activists, carrying party flags, forcefully entered the Amazon office premises, damaged the furniture and broke the window glasses using sticks.

The workers of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Tuesday vandalised the office of Amazon India in Nagpur while protesting the sale of Pakistani flags and a book which allegedly hurts religious sentiments of Hindus on the e-commerce platform.

According to the officials, a group of men carrying MNS flags barged into the firm’s office in Ganeshpeth area in Nagpur and ransacked it around 12.30 pm. The perpetrators allegedly damaged the furniture and broke the window glasses using sticks.

The MNS workers also staged a demonstration inside the office and questioned the company staffers about the ongoing sale before vandalising some of the merchandise.

A letter addressed to Amazon India Limited and signed by local MNS leaders Chandu Lade and Vishal Badge claimed that Pakistani flags were available for sale on its website and such objects are “used by those who engage in anti-national activities”.

The MNS functionaries also said that the party had earlier communicated with the company and raised their concerns to the officials. However, the MNS claimed, the sale of the flag continued, prompting them to protest.
