(File photo)The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has re-issued six tenders for new infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing connectivity to Thane. Notably, these tenders were originally announced just before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and were intended to be opened after the elections. However, they were subsequently canceled and have now been reissued with modifications.
An MMRDA official said the tenders were revised due to certain technical shortcomings. One significant change includes the reduction of the defect liability period from five years to two years.
The projects includes Thane coastal road from Balkum to Gaimukh National Highway 3, Ghodbunder Road bypass, and D.P. road construction, costing approximately Rs 12.98 crore. Extension of the Eastern Express Highway from Cheddha Nagar in Ghatkopar to Thane elevated corridor, costing Rs 12.80 crore. Design and Construction of a creek bridge from Kasarvadavali, Thane to Kharbao in Bhiwandi, costing Rs 7.26 crore. Design and construction of a creek bridge from Gaimukh to Paygaon, costing Rs 4.64 crore. Design and construction of an elevated road from National Highway 4 (old) to Katai Naka, costing Rs 9.43 crore. Design and construction of an elevated road from Kalyan Murbad to Badlapur Road to Pune Link Road, parallel to Waldhuni River, crossing over Karjat Kasara railway line including a slip road, costing Rs 2.25 crore.
A pre-bid meeting is scheduled at MMRDA’s BKC office on Tuesday, and the deadline for bid submission is 5pm by July 12.
The construction period for three of the projects is 48 months, which includes obtaining all necessary environmental clearances and approvals, and accounts for the monsoon season. The duration of construction for two other projects is 42 months and the remaining project has a construction period of 30 months. The defect liability period for all projects after construction is 24 months.
