MHADA to complete structural audit of 1,000 cessed buildings by March-end
MHADA Vice President and CEO, Sanjeev Jaiswal, IAS, has urged officials to speed up the process.

The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) is set to conduct structural audits on 1,000 cessed buildings in Mumbai by the end of March, officials said Friday.
MHADA Vice President and CEO, Sanjeev Jaiswal, IAS, has urged officials to speed up the process. A recent review meeting at the MHADA headquarters in Bandra (East) assessed various projects under the Mumbai Building Repairs and Reconstruction Board (MBRRB), which oversees the cessed buildings in South Mumbai.
During the meeting, Jaiswal emphasised the need to appoint structural consultants and plan the audits for around 13,000 cessed buildings over the coming year.
As part of the government’s action plan, 500 buildings will undergo audits, with 171 already completed and reports for 32 buildings received, according to an MHADA official.
Additionally, Jaiswal instructed executive engineers to issue notices under Section 79(A)(1)(A) for all 13,000 cessed buildings within the Mumbai Board’s jurisdiction.
He also called for an expedited redevelopment process for properties acquired under Section 91(A).
