The Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA) will appoint a new consultant for the proposed Marina project to be constructed in South Mumbai which was proposed as a parking facility for 300 yachts at Princess Dock, thereby helping decongest Gateway of India.

The previous tender was scrapped following a dull response. While MbPA had offered two acres of land for the Marina, the participants had expressed a desire for the entire six-acre parcel for commercial exploitation which was unacceptable to MbPA.

Following this, MbPA decided to develop the Marina itself instead of hiring a contractor for the job.

The official said that the Marina project will increase the value of the land parcel, and so MbPA will develop it on its own. A fresh proposal will be sent to the Centre, but prior to that a consultant will be appointed.
