Management, admin staff booked after lift collapse in Lower Parel
According to officials, the incident was reported at 10.49 am in the C wing of the 16-storey commercial building situated within Kamala Mills.

A day after 12 people were injured after a passenger lift collapsed at Lower Parel’s Trade World building, the NM Joshi Marg police registered a case against its management and administration staff of the building.
According to police, the case was registered under sections 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code.
Confirming the incident, senior police inspector Arvind Chandanshive of NM Joshi Marg police station said, “No one has been arrested in the case as yet. We are trying to ascertain and identify the persons responsible. For now we are checking whether they had required permissions.”
According to officials, the incident was reported at 10.49 am in the C wing of the 16-storey commercial building situated within Kamala Mills.
“Of the 12, around eight were injured and appropriate medical treatment was provided to them. Only one is still admitted in the hospital but even he is out of danger,” said an officer.
According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) preliminary reports, the lift collapsed from the fourth floor.
Soon after the incident was reported, the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) sent a fire engine as well as an ambulance to carry out rescue operations. “One station officer as well as the assistant fire divisional officer (ADFO) were present on the site of the accident,” said a senior MFB official.
Speaking to The Indian Express, C R Pawar, assistant fire divisional officer of G/South said, “The victims were working in the commercial complex. There were 12 people inside the lift when the accident occurred. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident. The victims sustained minor injuries and most have received discharge.”
