Man held for raping 17-yr-old daughter, impregnating her

The police said that the accused, a hawker, is a history-sheeter and has previously been arrested in cases of rape and thefts. He was lodged in jail till November 2023 and has been raping his daughter since he got bail.
An officer said, “The accused was arrested early last year in a case of theft and subsequently in a case of rape. He was in jail till November 2023 and went home after he got bail in those cases.”
The police said that the 40-year-old noticed that his wife had left home and went to her maternal house. His minor daughter was staying with his (accused’s) mother.
“The accused had since then been sexually assaulting her,” said an officer adding, “After every incident of sexual assault the accused would threaten her of dire consequences. As she had nowhere else to go, she did not reveal her ordeal even to his mother.”
However early this week, the police said that the girl complained of severe stomach ache to her neighbour following which she was taken to a government hospital.
The girl was examined and it came to light that she was seven-month pregnant.
“The hospital authorities informed us after which a case was registered under section 376 (2) (N) (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children under Sexual Offences Act 2012,” said an officer.
The accused was subsequently arrested, said police adding that the girl is still admitted in hospital and is undergoing treatment.
