A call was received by the police control room at around 1.10 am on Sunday by a person who identified himself as Pandey. (Representational Image) The Mumbai police on Sunday arrested a man for making a hoax call about explosives being taken to Goa from Mumbai.
A call was received by the police control room at around 1.10 am on Sunday by a person who identified himself as Pandey.
The caller said that two Pakistani nationals were travelling in a white tanker with RDX towards Goa. The Mumbai police alerted their Goa counterparts immediately.
Considering the seriousness of the threat, the police also began tracing the caller.
The caller was identified as 45-year-old Nilesh Pandey. He was arrested from Kanjur Marg where he was hiding.
The police said that Pandey had three previous cases registered against him and he is being probed to ascertain why he had made the call.
