Man held for hoax calls about bombing Taj Hotel

The 36-year-old man identified as Dharampal Singh, has been booked under Section 506(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, an officer said.

MUMBAI POLICE on Sunday arrested a man from the city for allegedly making a hoax call about bombing the Taj Hotel in south Mumbai.

The 36-year-old man identified as Dharampal Singh, has been booked under Section 506(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, an officer said.

On Saturday, Singh called the Mumbai Fire Brigade and said he was going to blow up the Taj Hotel. Upon being alerted, Mumbai Police followed the security protocol and searched the hotel but found nothing suspicious.

Police later found that before calling the fire department, Singh had made multiple calls to Mumbai police.

Following this, Colaba police registered a case against him and arrested him. Police are investigating as to why Singh made the hoax call, an officer said.
