Make-up artist to move court

The artist alleges the CCMAA told her she could either practise as a hair dresser or a make-up artist.

After Cine Costume Make-up Artists and Hair Dressers Association (CCMAA) confiscated her union card Wednesday, make-up artist Serina Tixeira has decided to move court against the association.

The artist alleges the CCMAA told her she could either practise as a hair dresser or a make-up artist.

However, CCMAA claims they seized Tixeira’s card after a non-member was found working under her. Tixeira has managed to find support in two colleagues, make-up artists Meghna Bhutani and Namrata Soni, who will be her co-petitioners.

The trio is also canvassing for support from other hair and make-up artists within the industry as well as actors and producers. The CCMAA, however, sees this as an “internal matter” that need not be taken to court.

“But if they wish to escalate the matter, we will take it as it comes,” said CCMAA general secretary Stanley D’Souza.
