Taking a dig at the Maharashtra Government over staying the appointment of two district guardian ministers within a day, the Opposition Congress said Monday it may change the deputy chief minister in a similar way.
The Maharashtra government Sunday stayed the appointments of guardian ministership of the Raigad and Nasik districts where NCP’s Aditi Tatkare and BJP’s Girish Mahajan were appointed a day before. According to sources, the Shiv Sena was unhappy after its ministers Bharat Gogawale and Dadaji Bhuse were neglected for these posts, respectively.
“The unrest within the Mahayuti is far from over. Despite the mammoth majority in the polls, the delay in government formation and later in Cabinet distribution seems far from over. It won’t be a surprise if one of the deputy CMs of the state is changed in a fashion similar to how guardian ministers’ appointment was stayed,” said senior Congress MLA and former LoP Vijay Wadettiwar.
Wadettiwar also took a dig at the Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde, questioning his repeated visits to his village in Satara district. “One might see the uday (rise) of some other leader, just how Eknath Shinde was brought in to counter Uddhav Thackeray,” he said, in an apparent reference to Industries Minister Uday Samant.
Earlier in the day, BJP ministers Girish Mahajan and Chandrashekhar Bawankule flew to Shinde’s Dare village where the deputy CM is currently spending some time. According to sources, Shinde and his party are upset over being denied the guardian ministerships of Raigad and Nasik.
