Maharashtra: ZP school students to get pending set of uniforms by Jan 26, says Minister
Stating that clothing required for uniform is already acquired, Dadaji Bhuse said, “We are exploring district level tenders so that uniforms are stitched locally to expedite the process.”

Students from Zilla Parishad (ZP) schools across Maharashtra will finally get their pending set of uniforms by January 26, 2025. New School Education Minister Dada Bhuse made the announcement Monday as he assumed charge .
Bhuse assumed office in presence of around 50 students from schools in Nashik, his home district.
Students from government schools across all districts are provided two sets of uniforms, through a centralised process under the state government’s “One State, One Uniform” policy, which was introduced last year wherein
After the delay, one set of uniforms had reached schools earlier this year. But according to sources, close to 35lakh students are still waiting for the next set of uniforms.
Minister Dada Bhuse has decided to expedite this process by giving a deadline of January 26.
Stating that clothing required for uniform is already acquired, Bhuse said, “We are exploring district level tenders so that uniforms are stitched locally to expedite the process.”
The “One State, One Uniform” policy was mired in controversy with many schools pointing out that the centralised approach will delay the process.
Several schools also raised complaints about quality of stitching and cloth of the uniform .Following the criticisms the policy was revised recently.
Starting next academic year, instead of a centralised system for stitching and distributing uniforms, the state has now tasked School Management Committees (SMCs) with managing the process at the local level, which was the original practice.
