In view of the flood situation, the Maharashtra Public Service Commission has postponed the MPSC preliminary examination 2025, which was scheduled to be held on September 28, to November 9. The exam was supposed to be held at 524 sub-centres in 37 districts across the state.

This comes as a great relief to lakhs of aspirants, as many had demanded that Sunday’s exam be postponed due extreme weather conditions, particularly flood situation in parts of Maharashtra and continued heavy rainfall warning, which they feared would lead to many of them missing the exam.

As per the notification issued by the MPSC on Friday, considering the prevailing circumstances and appeals from student organisations, the state government, via letter dated September 26, 2025, recommended the postponement, which MPSC has accepted. “This decision was taken in view of the flood situation affecting several districts in Maharashtra, which has severely disrupted connectivity between villages and talukas. The state meteorological department has also issued warnings of continued heavy rainfall, prompting concerns about the safety and accessibility of examination centres for the candidates, states the notification.
