Maharashtra Political Crisis Highlights, July 6: NCP patriarch Sharad Pawar held a working committee meeting of the party in Delhi on Thursday. After the meeting, Sharad Pawar responded to Ajit Pawar's retirement jibe and said he will be effective, whether he is 82 or 92. He further said that whatever has to be said about the political situation and party split will be said before the Election Commission. Posters calling Ajit Pawar and leaders who rebelled along with him, leading to a split in the NCP, 'traitors' emerged. This is the second time in a year that a Maha Vikas Aghadi constituent is facing a split, with the Shiv Sena having split in June last year after CM Eknath Shinde's rebellion. Then too, 'gaddar' calls had dominated Maharashtra politics. Addressing party workers at the Y B Chavan Centre on Wednesday, he had said, “MLAs come, and can go anywhere. Don’t complain. Let them live happily, wherever they are. Till we are together, let’s work to create a new generation of leaders.” In a parallel meeting attended by 29 NCP MLAs, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar expressed his ambition to become the chief minister and also called on his uncle and party chief Sharad Pawar to retire. “You are 83, aren’t you going to stop?” he said.
