In a fresh war of words between the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance partners Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress’s Maharashtra president Nana Patole took objection to Sena leader Sanjay Raut’s statement where he said that Uddhav Thackeray, the Sena UBT president and former Maharashtra CM, can become the Prime Ministerial candidate of the opposition INDIA alliance.
Taking objection to Raut’s statement, Patole said Raut’s comment should not be taken seriously and one must not pay much attention to what he says. Patole also hit out at the Rajya Sabha MP for changing his stance and said Raut was earlier okay with Rahul Gandhi’s name for PM but now he has suddenly changed his opinion.
Days after Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut referred BJP’s Amravati Lok Sabha candidate Navneet Rana as a “dancer” and “Babli” (a film character who cons people), Rana on Saturday slammed Raut and said people of her constituency will not tolerate such insults. The actor-turned-politician said Raut was a “tin tappad” (riffraff) from Mumbai who goes to various places and speaks derogatorily about others.
“If he speaks in this way about the daughter of Amravati, the people here will not tolerate such insults,” said Rana. A few days ago, Raut had said, “The Lok Sabha election is a contest not against a dancer or ‘Babli’ (a con character in a Hindi film) but a fight between Maharashtra and Modi. She (Rana) is a dancer, an actor on the screen who will make some affectionate gestures, but do not fall for that trap.”
The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Ajit Pawar will release its manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 on Monday. Party spokesperson and former MP Anand Paranjpe said the manifesto will be based on the theme ‘Nationalist for the Nation’ or ‘Rashtrasathi, Rastrawadi.’
The manifesto will explain the vision of NCP for the development of India, emphasising its commitment to economic progress through public services and infrastructure projects.
The manifesto has been finalised by a committee under the leadership of senior NCP leader Dilip Walse-Patil. “Despite being under treatment at the hospital, Dilip Walse-Patil continuously gave us his guidance while preparing the manifesto,” said Anand Paranjpe at the press conference.
