"After meeting the high command, I assured them that there are no ‘ifs’ or ‘buts’ from my side. Shiv Sena will give its full support to the decision. This is my final stance," Shinde said. (Express photo by Arul Horizon)Caretaker CM Eknath Shinde on Sunday reiterated that he would support whatever decision Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other leaders of the Mahayuti alliance make. “A discussion will take place now about all the portfolios and then it will be decided. But for us what is important is what the people of the state are getting and not the party,” Shinde added. Shinde’s statements come even as Mahayuti sources indicated that Devendra Fadnavis was nearly cleared for the Chief Ministerial post, with the NCP giving its approval.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission in a statement said that “any individual involved in making false claims, spreading misinformation, or indulging in insinuations alleging tampering of EVMs or attempts to sensationalise such matters will face strict criminal action as per the law.” The poll body said that this will be considered a serious offence, adding that the Delhi and Mumbai Police are investigating and taking necessary steps to identify and apprehend anyone within India who is in contact with such individuals or complicit in these “malicious activities”.
