Maharashtra: DRI busts Mepehedrone factory in Latur, among 7 arrested one cop
The officials further said that the seized 11.36 kg of Mephedrone is valued at Rs 17 crore in the illicit market

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence on Wednesday revealed that the agency has arrested seven individuals after busting a factory in Maharashtra’s Latur district that was illegally manufacturing narcotics substance Mephedrone. The officials said that the arrested individuals also include a police constable from the Mira-Bhayandar-Vasai-Virar police commissionerate.
According to DRI officials, the agency received specific intelligence that a syndicate was involved in manufacturing of Mephedrone (a psychotropic substance under NDPS,1985) at a clandestine facility set up in the remote hilly terrain of Rohina village in Latur.
Officials from the central agency then increased surveillance in the area following which searches were conducted at the location in the early hours on Tuesday.
“During the search, 11.36 kg of Mephedrone (8.44 kg dry and 2.92 kg liquid) was recovered and other large quantities of raw materials and lab equipment were also seized,” said officials.
Subsequently, five persons including a police constable involved in the manufacturing of Mephedrone at the facility were apprehended.
“In the followup action, the distributor and financier were also apprehended in Mumbai,” said an officer adding, “All seven persons have admitted to their respective roles in financing, manufacturing and trafficking of the psychotropic substance,” officials added.
The officials further said that the seized 11.36 kg of Mephedrone is valued at Rs 17 crore in the illicit market. All seven were arrested under the provisions of NDPS Act,1985.
