During a public rally held at Shivaji Park Sunday, Raj Thackeray disapproved of the politics over the demands to remove Aurangzeb’s tomb. On the contrary, Thackeray maintained, “The tomb depicts how the Mughal emperor, despite a mighty army, failed and was finally buried in the land of Maharashtra.”

The MNS leader urged people to read history from the right perspective from books authored by historians and not to rely on WhatsApp.

He said Aurangzeb spent 27 years in Maharashtra fighting the Marathas, and wanted to defeat and wipe out Chhatrapati Shivaji’s legacy. Even after Shivaji Maharaj’s passing away, Aurangzeb continued to live here (Maharashtra). “ Aurangzeb wanted to kill a thought called Shivaji,” he said.

Meanwhile, senior RSS leader Suresh Joshi, popularly known as Bhaiyyaji, said the ongoing debate and controversy over the Mughal emperor’s tomb was an unnecessary topic.
