The Maharashtra Gems and Jewellery Policy 2025, which aims to attract investments worth Rs 1 lakh crore and create five lakh new jobs, was approved in a cabinet meeting held on Tuesday. The policy that will remain in effect from 2025 to 2030, aims to increase exports from the sector from $15 billion to $30 billion. The objective is to develop Maharashtra as a major hub of gems and jewellery industry at the global level by adopting advanced technology and to strengthen this sector through infrastructure development, innovation and skill development. The objective is to make Maharashtra a global leader in the production and export of gems and jewellery by promoting industrial clusters, encouraging research and development activities, and integrating digital trade solutions. The industry units covered under this policy will be provided with financial and other facilities and incentives. This will include interest subsidy, incentives for increased investment, stamp duty concessions, electricity tariff and tariff concessions, cluster development, employee provident fund contribution, skill development assistance, necessary facilities and incentives for exports, incentives for branding-designing-packaging-marketing, one-window scheme, plug and play facilities, uninterrupted power and water supply, and additional carpet index.
