Maharashtra Shiv Sena leader and MLA Sanjay Shirsat on Friday issued a stern warning to the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis-led government about the possible “bad consequences” in the near future if the cabinet expansion continues to be delayed in the state.
“Everyone wants to become a minister, but no one says it. You cannot keep it stretching for long. The time has come to make a concrete decision. If the cabinet expansion is further delayed, the consequences will be bad,” Shirsat stated.
The Eknath Shinde-led government, which assumed office in June 2022 following the collapse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, has only witnessed two cabinet expansions — the first in 2022 and the second in July 2023 — which included the induction of NCP’s Ajit Pawar and eight other MLAs.
Several Shinde-led Sena leaders have been expressing their displeasure for not being inducted into the cabinet despite making promises during the formation of the government in June 2022. Despite the passage of two years, most of them are yet to be inducted into the cabinet.
Shirsat, who is also eyeing a cabinet position, emphasised the urgent need for Shinde and Fadnavis to clarify their stance on the matter.
