Land sought in Goregaon

To improve services to and from Goregaon,BEST has sought 9,700 square metres near Goregaon railway station from the state government.

The cattle market land belonging to the animal husbandry department is adjacent to a 1,100-square-metre BEST bus stand on the east side of the railway station. It has been lying vacant for more than two years. The state government,however,appears willing to part with only 7,000 square metres and has asked the undertaking to make a formal proposal.

BEST has to spend Rs 3 crore to relocate the cattle market and another one-and-a-half crore to develop the plot.

General manager O P Gupta said,“Once we build a depot on the plot,we will be able to start services from Goregaon. There is a huge demand from passengers.”
