The state government on Friday transferred Kolhapur district superintendent of police Yashashwi Yadav and suspended deputy superintendent of police (DySP) Vijay Parkale and police inspector Dnyaneshwar Munde for lack of supervision in connection with the alleged rape of a trainee constable in Kolhapur.

The action against the police officers was announced by Home Minister R.R Patil on Friday. Patil had earlier announced that Maithili Jha,additional superintendent of police,Nashik, would be appointed to investigate the alleged rape of a trainee constable.

The victim had complained of rape by constable Yuvraj Kamble,a drill instructor. Kamble allegedly called the victim home in January to give her notes and raped her. The victim lodged a complaint against Kamble this month, leading to his arrest and suspension.
