Three people were killed Wednesday when the motorcycle they were travelling on collided with a school bus in Pali of Raigad district, police said. The deceased have been identified as Vilas Ghogare (30), Monesh Waghmare (21), and Navnath Jadhav (19), all residents of Mulshi district in Pune. According to police, the three were riding triple-seat on the motorcycle when they allegedly veered onto the wrong side of the road, leading to the crash with the bus which was dropping off school children. “The incident happened around 3 pm. The school bus was dropping off children when the motorcycle suddenly came from the front and collided with it. None of the children were injured,” a police officer said. The injured riders were rushed to a nearby hospital but were declared dead. Following the accident, police recorded the statement of the bus driver, Arun Shinde. Based on his complaint, a case has been filed under relevant sections of the BNS and the Motor Vehicle Act against the motorcycle riders for allegedly violating multiple traffic rules that led to the collision.
