Address garbage-related complaints mmediately: BMC chief to officials

Chahal also ordered his officials to prioritise complaints related to cleanliness issued by Ganapati Samanvaya Committee. The commissioner has also said that officers from wards wherein maximum number of hygiene related complaints will be registered would be penalised, while ward officials who maintain cleanliness in their ward will be felicitated.

In his message to officials, Chahal also said that since the CM visits several pandals for darshan during the festival, any complaints related to this issue will be dealt with seriously.

Meanwhile, civic officials maintained that wards are being regularly inspected. “The commissioner has asked us to inspect wards twice a day, which is going to be bit problematic due to dearth of manpower. But we have ramped up our action and are addressing all complaints immediately,” said a ward official.

Another official said, “The main issue is in slum areas, since waste from residential buildings is dumped in a disciplined manner inside garbage vans. This can only be solved in entirety through policy making.”

Meanwhile members of Brihanmumbai Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Samanvay Samiti had met CM Shinde last week, and were asked to ensure the city remains clean.
