BJP leader and state PWD Minister Ravindra Chavan on Monday said that despite his efforts, he has not been able to stop illegal transfers in his department by corrupt officials.
Chavan said there must be transparency in transfers and despite his efforts to stop illegal transfers, corrupt officials continue to indulge in it.
“I have been repeatedly speaking about bringing transparency in the transfers in the department. I have told officials not to pay money for transfers but it continues. I am upset that despite appeals, people are not listening just because some officials want a better posting. It is unfortunate that I have not been able to stop it despite warnings. There seems to be politics but it must stop,” Chavan said, while launching a project management system to bring transparency in PWD’s works.
He said he has complained to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde about the malpractice and corruption in the department and wants to digitise the department to weed out corruption.
“I have informed Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis… My senior officials are with me and they are also aware,” he said.
