Months after 20 Shiv sainiks allegedly attacked IBN Lokmat office, the channel head Nikhil Wagle moved an anticipatory bail application before the sessions court on Wednesday after a counter case was filed against him.

Ashwin Savekar, one of the 20 accused, has filed a counter case against Wagle alleging that Wagle had assaulted him on his head with a rod. Wagle has been booked under Section 307 of the Indian Penal code for attempt to murder.

In November last year,20 Shiv Sainiks including Sunil Raut, brother of MP Sanjay Raut, were arrested for allegedly ransacking the office of the news channel IBN Lokmat in suburban Mumbai. The sainiks accused the channel of showing their party Chief Bal Thackeray in “bad light”. Staff members were also injured in the attack.

All the arrested sainiks were released on bail on January 5 by a sessions court. Sessions court adjourned the hearing till January 19 and has granted interim relief from arrest.
