Havaldar,RTO agent arrested for forgery

A police havaldar has been arrested for allegedly misusing the official stamp (seal) of Kondhwa police station for issuing police certificates for misplaced goods or lost papers to people. Besides the havaldar,P N Gogavale (49),an RTO agent,identified as Baba Anna Birajdar (32),a resident of Bhavani Nagar,Paud Road was arrested for aiding Gogavale in the crime.

Sub-Inspector Jitendra Kadam lodged the complaint with Kondhwa police on Thursday.

Police said Gogavale did not have the powers to issue certificates for missing or misplaced items to people. But since 2009,he had been conspiring with Birajdar and issuing certificates to people who had misplaced or lost good like cellphones or papers such as driving licences or other documents.
