”We were not informed. It was only when one of our associates went to meet him (Ali) today that we got to know that he had suffered an attack. He told us that he was helped with an injection by the jail medical officials,” said Bagaria. He could not confirm who diagnosed it as paralytic attack. “His right hand and right leg are not responding. This is serious,” he added.

Jail authorities rubbished the claim.

“As per sessions court orders,Khan is taken to state-run J J Hospital (every day) since the last four days. Today also,he was taken to hospital for two hours. He walked easily and if he was not well, doctors would not have allowed him to go and admitted him in the hospital,” A C Rane, jail superintendent, told PTI.

Ali has earlier complained of diabetes, liver cirrhosis and partial renal problems and symptoms of cellulitis and gangrene to the Bombay High Court. He was lodged in the Arthur Road jail after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) took him into custody following an apex court order that stayed a subordinate court’s order granting him bail on March 17.
