Mumbai’s Harbour Line commuters will face a complete shutdown of services between Vadala Road and Mankhurd for nearly 14.5 hours this weekend, as the Central Railway carries out infrastructure work related to newly proposed diversion lines between Kurla and Tilak Nagar stations.

The block will begin at 11.05 pm on Saturday, September 13, and continue till 1.35 pm on Sunday, September 14. According to CR officials, both the Up and Down Harbour lines will remain closed during this period.

All Down Harbour services departing from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) between 10.20 pm on Saturday and 1.19 pm on Sunday will remain cancelled. Similarly, all Up Harbour services towards CSMT, departing Panvel between 10.07 pm on Saturday and 12.56 pm on Sunday, will also remain cancelled.

The last train before the block from Panvel to CSMT will leave Panvel at 9.52 pm on Saturday, while the last service from CSMT to Panvel will depart at 10.14 pm the same night. Train operations will resume after the block with the first Panvel–CSMT service departing Panvel at 1.09 pm on Sunday, and the first CSMT–Panvel service leaving at 1.30 pm.

To partially ease inconvenience, CR will operate special locals between Panvel and Mankhurd during the block. However, services between Vadala Road and Mankhurd will remain suspended entirely.

The mega block is being undertaken to facilitate work on diversion lines near Kurla and Tilak Nagar, which officials say is critical to improve operational efficiency and ensure long-term safety of train services. “These maintenance mega blocks are essential for infrastructure upkeep and safety. Passengers are requested to bear with the Railway Administration for the inconvenience caused,” said Dr Swapnil Nila, Chief Public Relations Officer, Central Railway.
