Led by Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary Ketan Vikas Thakre, the Nagpur City District Congress Committee held a “Grand Pothole Exhibition”, featuring large banners with photographs of potholes on major and internal city roads.
The party gave the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) commissioner an eight-day ultimatum to fix the roads, and warned that if the potholes are not fixed by then, they will launch a more intense protest.

“We have had enough of normal protests, but the administration is doing nothing about it. The answer that we always get is, ‘we are working on this.’ But today, we reached the office with pictures of potholes with their GPS locations,” Thakre told The Indian Express.
Thakre said they presented a few of the photographs the Dr Abhijeet Chaudhari, Commissioner, NMC.
“Our workers from different areas of the city shot these images with their GPS locations on. We printed them on banners and visited the NMC headquarters. If the commissioner fails to take action on this, we will stage demonstrations at the locations of these potholes,” added Thakre.
He also said that since the municipal corporation has taken control of the city with no corporators available to rush to the aid of the common people, the situation has only worsened.

Following the demonstration, a delegation led by Thakre met Chaudhari, and submitted a letter which had information and GPS locations for all the potholes in the city.
The Nagpur police tried to stop the protesters by placing barricades, but angry workers climbed over them, and continued their protest.
Speaking at the protest site, Thakre said, “The potholes in Nagpur are putting lives at risk every single day, with accidents and health issues becoming routine. Instead of just shuffling papers and showing statistics, NMC must act now”.
“We have given proof to the commissioner that if roads aren’t fixed in eight days, the Congress will hit the streets harder. And if they still don’t listen, we’ll put up photos of NMC officials in the potholes themselves.”
