Maharashtra Govt gives nod for redevelopment of Mumbai Press Club
According to the officials, the land has been given by Maharashtra government to the Mumbai Press Club for a period of 30 years from 1994.

The state cabinet on Friday decided to give permission for redevelopment of Mumbai Press Club in Fort as a special case subject to certain terms and conditions.
According to the officials, the land has been given by Maharashtra government to the Mumbai Press Club for a period of 30 years from 1994.
In 2017 and 2018, the state government revised the policy to allow redevelopment and reconstruction of the property.
Subsequently, this was allowed on certain terms and conditions vide memorandum dated March 22, 2021 by levying a premium. It was decided to exempt the redevelopment surcharge on a request made by the Mumbai Press Club.
As a part of the Mumbai Press Club is being used commercially, instructions have been given to the Collector of Mumbai City to take corrective action to the violation of the conditions and it has been decided to allow this development subject to certain terms and conditions. “The lease of the Mumbai Press Club expires on November 1, 2024 and the Collector has also been instructed to take a decision on the renewal of the lease while giving permission for the redevelopment of Mumbai Press Club building,” the official said.
