Pushing for anti-encroachment drives on city roads, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner and state appointed administrator, Iqbal Singh Chahal has stated that several government agencies should work together to make Mumbai an encroachment-free city.
Speaking at a meeting of the Encroachment Removal Standing Committee, constituted by the state government, Chahal said eviction of encroachments on government institution plots must be undertaken in coordination with the police administration as well.
The municipal commissioner, at the meeting, said, “It is very important to properly preserve the information and details of encroachment clearance operations, etc., at the level of various authorities. This information is important for investigation and court proceedings.”
